KEY POINTS

  • Above normal temperatures are likely (70-80% chance) August 13-15, however forecast confidence is currently very low regarding exact high temperatures and how far above normal temperatures will get.

  • Despite the uncertainty, heat-related preparedness actions are recommended.

DETAILS

  • There is a very large degree of model spread at this time. The coolest model solutions show inland high temperatures around 80 degrees, while the warmest model solutions show inland high temperatures around 115 degrees. Guidance along the coast suggests high temperatures could be anywhere from around 70 degrees to the mid 90s.

  • There is currently a 50-65% chance for inland high temperatures above 100 degrees and a 1-10% chance for highs above 110 degrees from Eugene to Portland to Kelso/Longview.

  • Potential for warm overnight temperatures with minimal relief. 10-25% chance for low temperatures between 65-75 degrees from Eugene to Portland to Kelso/Longview.
