The City of Rivergrove is proud to receive the designation as a Tree City USA community for the second year. This distinction, which is awarded by the Arbor Day Foundation, recognizes communities who demonstrate a commitment towards effective urban forest management. In order to receive the Tree City USA designation, Rivergrove met the program’s four core requirements, which include maintaining a tree board, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry, and hosting an Arbor Day celebration.

“Everyone benefits when elected officials, volunteers and committed citizens in communities like Rivergrove make smart investments in urban forests. Trees bring shade to our homes and beauty to our neighborhoods, along with numerous economic, social and environmental benefits.”
— Matt Harris, CEO of the Arbor Day Foundation

Trees are assets to a community when properly planted and maintained. They help to improve the visual appeal of a neighborhood, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants and provide wildlife habitat, among many other benefits.
